3-8-09

2009 WKO World Championships Date has been changed from the 18th October, 2009. Will now be on 9th March, 2010

Osu Kancho’s and Shihans,

As you know the planning and preparations for the 2009 World Chanpionships have been underway for Oct 18th 2009, Last night we hit a major snag with this event. Firstly the The Satellite company just informed us that the Government will announce the primary elections to be held on the 18th of October mean all satellites will be used for the Election Campaign. Our second fear is every time there is an election in Thailand we are struck with political unrest and security becomes a major issue along with the threat of Airports Closing due to protests. Until last night we were unaware of this as it was announced at 8pm Thai time on the news.

Dear Shihan,Sifu and Sensei’s,

We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to join the World Kumite Organization .

The WKO is a non political Martial Arts Organization comprised of some of the most influential Masters of Martial Arts living today. We are made up of styles from all over the world. Including Kyokushin, Shorin Kempo , Bayakuren Kempo Karate, Judo, Jujitsu, Ryu Jujitsu, Kung Fu systems, Kenshinkai, and over 79 other systems.

The World Kumite Organization was reformed in order to break down the political barriers between systems and to join together as one to help bring back the traditionalism, power, and charisma that the traditional martial arts deserves.

The World Kumite Organization is fast growing into one of the largest Martial Arts organizations in the world due to its strength in unity and recognition of each other.

The World Kumite Organization is free to join. We don’t get involved with internal politics of other organizations or dojos that are part of the WKO. The WKO does not do gradings, however, we do underwrite its members grades and Dan’s providing proof is supplied by way of certification from the applying instructors organization or system.

The World Kumite Organization is a purely non political organization formed to create and help revive the esteem of traditional Martial Arts Tournaments which ensures that competitors and members are truly practitioners of traditional Martial arts. Every two years the World Kumite Championships are held and are by invitation only. Each master puts forward his best fighters to compete. The Tournament is now held in Thailand every two years , this is due to Thailand's Government support and visa status for competitors. The first Kumite held since 1982 in Hongkong was held in 2008. The next is confirmed and being held on March 9th 2010. These events are traditional Kumite that will help bring back the charisma of traditional Martial Arts.

The World Kumite Organization in conjunction with the South East Asian School Of Martial Arts Thailand, (a certified school under the Thailand Ministry of Education), and sponsored by McInnes Corporation Co Ltd (Thailand), intends to bring back the full glamor and esteem of traditional martial arts.

  6. The rules are designed to give all styles invited to the event a fare and even chance to win with a unique scoring system for Kumite (WKO) sanctioned events designed to prevent any unfairness.

  7. Instructors and students over the grade of black belt may apply to have their grades certified and underwritten by The world Kumite Organization along with any or all Kumite’s they have competed in providing they can be verified by the WKO.
