Kancho’s, Sifu’s ,Shihan’s and Sensei’s from all over the world, first and foremost as the President (Kancho) for the World Kumite Organization and Kancho Sugihara (the Chairman of the WKO for Japan) we would like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for the tremendous support you have all shown the WKO over the past 5 years since the birth of this great organization. Both Kancho Sugihara and myself are proud to aline ourselves with each and every organization, style and Dojo that has joined the WKO over the past 5 years. Our Strength and amazing rate of growth is due to the quality and unity the Masters show by setting example to the rest of the world that we at the WKO put politics aside and work side by side to promote Traditional Martial arts by a way of unity and following the path of Budo.
Since the Start of the WKO in 2007 the WKO has grown to to great heights due to the non political virtues that have drawn us all together as Martial artists. The WKO tournaments are noted as being some of the largest and most spectacular Knockdown Karate tournaments in the last decade. Since the first the opening of the WKO by General Teera Nawarwawong in 2007 and the 2008 World Kumite Championships, the WKO Japan, under the guidance of Kancho Sugihara, has promoted a WKO sanctioned tournament nearly every month for both Children, Women , teenagers and Adults in all regions of Japan.
Our WKO Champions are undisputedly among the best in the world and for this we can all be proud. Yuto Fukuchi won at the light weight class of the 2012 Shin Kyokushin tournament, and in the 2011 WKO all Japan Middle weight- Ryuki Furukawa, and Heavy Weight, Takatsugu Naitou not to mention Kitijima winning the Kyokushin union 2011 tournament. And of corse we have the Kumite Champion for 2008 and 2010 Judd Reid 2010 openweight champion, 2010 Middleweight champion Mongkong Kaled, 2008 middle weight champion Musa Bageri, and the 2008 openweight champion Fathi.
The WKO has a Professional Honbu in Pattaya Thailand in conjunction with the Thai Government Registered, School South East Asian International School of Martial Arts and the RTA Military Police School .The Honbu welcomes all WKO members from around the world with its open doors policy. The Centre is one of the most well equipped and presented Martial arts centers in the world. Thailand was chosen for the Honbu due to it's accessibility and visa friendly policy to most countries which makes it easier to visit and associate with.
In 2011 the WKO held its first ever WKO ALL JAPAN… This was a great success being one of the largest all Japans ever with in excess of 1200 fighters from over 125 styles from all over Japan. What made this possible is the non-political stance that the WKO members agree on steadfastly. In the July 2012 we also held the first ever WKO Junior All Japan for fighters up to 18 years old. On the same day 2 other major tournaments were held, still over 1000 children from over 200 styles competed to a packed stadium to determine a champion. It is obvious that the WKO is and will continue to grow based on Unity and a strong non political stance.
The WKO South East Asian Karate Championships will be held in the first week of February 2013 for Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Pakistan, Thailand , Srilanka , Bangladesh, Nepal , Burma , Vietnam ,Lao and Cambodia. The Future of the WKO
The future of the World Kumite Organization is in the hands of the Masters. Kancho Sugihara, the executive Committee members and myself can only do our very best to offer a fare and even platform on which we can all meet. With your help and support and by keeping politics religion and racism out of the WKO we can continue to grow, and with this growth so comes unity and strength of which we as members all benefit by being part of a great organization devoted to the evolution of martial arts as we know it today.
I humbly ask you all to put all prejudice regardless of style or organization or governmental positions aside and strive forward and masters of Bushido following the path of Budo and unit under the banner of martial arts and work together to show the rest of the world that with unity comes strength... With unity, regardless of style or belief, we set an example to all...
